The Carden West Student Government Program is a year-long program for 2nd through 5th grade students. Students are elected by their peers and are allowed to run for President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, Historian and Class Representative. The students coordinate a number of in-house fundraisers such as candy gram sales to raise money for student events. They also reach out the community by organizing canned food drives and penny drives to support local charity groups.
In this program students develop leadership skills by planning, organizing, implementing, and evaluating special events and projects. The student leadership's most recent endeavors include raising funds for children with Leukemia, collecting box tops to benefit Carden West students, and a toy and clothing drive to benefit homeless children. The student leadership committee organized and operated the outdoor games for Field Day on June 8th.
