The Carden West Student Government Program is a year-long program for upper grade students. Students are elected by their peers and are allowed to run for President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, Historian and Class Representatives. The students coordinate a number of in-house fundraisers such as candy grams for the troops, Red Cross coin drive for Haitian relief, One-Warm-Coat drive for homeless children, canned food drives, and many other outreach efforts.
In this program students develop leadership skills by planning, organizing, implementing, and evaluating special events and projects. The student leadership's most recent endeavors include raising funds for children with Leukemia, collecting box tops to benefit Carden West students, and a toy and clothing drive to benefit homeless children. The student leadership committee organized and operated the outdoor games for Field Day on the last day of school.
